Historical & genealogical information from Western New York, with an emphasis on Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Monroe, and Steuben counties, including numerous indexed and microfilmed newspapers, atlases & maps. Brownell & Eldridge genealogical collections. Vertical files contain clippings, pamphlets, documents, etc. filed by subject. A genealogy file contains genealogical papers arranged alphabetically by family name. Films about life in Alfred made from the 1930s-1960s by Varick Nevins. Over 3,000 photographs indexed by subject and name. The collection also includes slides, transparencies, and postcards of the Western New York area.
